PIPER'S JOINT BASED OCCLUSION is an interactive computer simulation designed
to show the dynamics of the temporomandibular joint and its effects on the occlusion.
Developed in collaboration with the expertise of Dr. Mark A. Piper, DMD, MD, this
software can give you and your patients deeper insight into concepts of malocclusion.
Help drive home the diagnosis and treatment that you are trying to explain to your
patients by showing them a simulation of their unique problem.
Our software works by building a customized patient model which is created by walking
you or your staff through various distortion wizards. These wizards are designed
to fit the way that you practice, and they integrate with the specific diagnostic
tests that you use in your patient evaluations. These unique patient simulations
can then be viewed from any perspective with any combination of layers of anatomical
structures within the masticatory system. You can also compare your patient's computer
simulation to a “normal” model which shows the ideal masticatory system. Furthermore,
our software creates an immediate dynamic animation between your patient's condition
and the normal state. We also allow you to select from various mandibular movement
sequences to allow your patient to better visualize and study the ramifications
of their occlusal distortion. For the first time your patients can understand why
their occlusal abnormalities have developed and how they may best consider your
treatment options. For your convenience the animated unique patient sequences that
you develop can be permanently saved in the individual patient file system.
